Photography Policy

Photography for personal, non-commercial use is permitted in the collection. However, the use of flash, tripods, and selfie sticks is strictly forbidden to protect the artworks and for the safety of other visitors.

Bag and Coat Policy

Large bags, backpacks, umbrellas, and coats must be deposited in the free cloakroom or lockers. Only small bags may be carried into the exhibition rooms.

Prohibited Items

Food and drink are not allowed in the exhibition areas. Smoking is prohibited throughout the entire building. Animals, with the exception of guide dogs, are not permitted.

Protecting the Art

Please do not touch any of the artworks, including frames and sculptures. Maintain a safe distance from the exhibits and be mindful of other visitors.

Common questions about museum etiquette

Can I bring a water bottle inside?
Water bottles must be kept inside your bag while in the exhibition rooms. No food or drink may be consumed in the galleries.
What size bag is considered "small"?
As a general rule, bags larger than a standard handbag or small daypack should be checked into the cloakroom. Staff at the entrance will make the final determination.
Is there a dress code?
There is no formal dress code. We recommend comfortable shoes as you will be doing a lot of walking.
Are strollers or baby carriers allowed?
Yes, strollers and baby carriers are permitted in the exhibition rooms. The palace is accessible with lifts. See our accessibility page for details.
Can I sketch in the galleries?
Sketching with pencils in a small notebook is generally permitted. However, the use of pens, paints, or easels is not allowed.
